Planters
My friend Lance is a organic gardener and has always shared the crops with me. So when he was showing me shabby old planter he was using I knew I found a way to pay him back a little for the wonderful vegetables he has given me. He showed me the wood from an older cedar fence he torn down that might work for making a planter. The wood was at least fifty years old and weathered beautifully. I re-sawed the 4x4 posts to make the posts and rails for the planters and made the slats from the 1x6 boards. The frame is mortise and tenon construct with no metal fasteners, just Titebond III glue. The side panels are ship-lapped and then tongue and grooved into the rails. The slats are fasted with galvanized screws. If you don't have a fence to recycle make the posts from 3x3 cedar and the rails from 2x4 cedar.
